FOCA is a jazz quintet from Portugal, created for the Festa do Jazz in 2021. The group features a lineup of renowned musicians from different generations of the Portuguese jazz scene, including André Fernandes (guitar), Mário Laginha (piano), José Pedro Coelho (saxophone), João Hasselberg (electronics and double bass), and João Pereira (drums). Their sound blends acoustic and electronic elements, offering a modern approach to jazz improvisation.
The band will perform at the SeixalJazz 2024 festival, presenting compositions from their debut album, FOCA, released earlier this year. Their concert will be on October 11, 2024.
